This disk contains 216 proven brain growth activities ideal for kids 4 to 6 years old. The activities cover three subjects: Emotions, Language and Numbers. The 216 activities are divided into four sections: Parents-Beginning (54 activities), Parents-Advanced (54 activities), Teachers-Beginning (54 activities), Teachers-Advanced (57 activities—Note: Three of the activities in this section have been copied/modified from activities located in the other three sections.)
After clicking on either the 'Parent' or the 'Teacher' button, you will notice at the top of the page links for "Introduction for Parents / Teachers Beginning / Advanced" and a section titled What You Need to Know. The introductions explain the core concepts that form the foundation of the Children’s First Steps activities. The "What You Need to Know" section explains the subjects taught in the activities. You do not need to read these sections to do the activities; however, through reading the information, you will gain a better understanding of why the First Steps activities are different from other early childhood programs and why they are so powerful in teaching kids Emotions, Language and Numbers.
Multiple Learning Environments - The activities have been divided into activities for home use in the Parent section and for classroom use in the Teacher section. Children naturally adapt and learn according to what they are exposed to the most. If a child is taught the same things at home that they are taught in the classroom, they are much more likely to learn that information. For this purpose, the activities have been divided into 'Home' and 'Classroom' activities. Teachers using these activities in their classroom can us the CD to provide parents with 'Home' activities that coordinate with classroom instruction. Parents using the activities in their home can easily adapt the Teacher or ‘Classroom’ activities for home use—increasing the number of activities they can use to help their children learn Emotions, Language and Numbers.
